For when it is finally your turn — a thoughtful plan to bring your whole smile back.
It Is Finally Your Turn
The patients who tend to find their way here
Patients come to us for smile makeovers at all stages of life, some after years of putting themselves last, others when they’re simply ready for something more. They want to feel confident in photos again. They want to feel at home in their own face. We’re honored to be part of that transformation.
What goes into the plan?
A smile makeover at Tatum Dentistry starts by looking at the whole picture your teeth, your bite, your jaw joints, your airway, even how your face frames your smile. From there we build a plan that may include whitening, veneers, crowns, Invisalign, or gum recontouring to name a few. We develop a personal plan designed to give you a beautiful smile you’ll be happy to share with those you love.
And we’ll do it together. Before anything is done, we’ll show you a digital preview of your new smile right in the office. If you want to take it a step further, we can create a trial smile you can actually see in your mouth, so you know exactly what you’re saying yes to.
Why patients trust us with this work
This is what Dr. Granger trains for at the Kois Center, and it is what Dr. Tatum has spent 36 years quietly mastering. We work in phases when it makes sense, take the time the work deserves, and follow the result for years afterward at every cleaning and exam. The same dentists. The same team. No one new takes over halfway through your case.
What is a smile makeover?
A smile makeover is a coordinated set of cosmetic and restorative treatments designed to improve how your whole smile looks and functions. It might combine whitening, veneers, crowns, Invisalign, or gum recontouring. At Tatum Dentistry, we plan it around your face, your bite, and your goals not a one-size template.
How much does a smile makeover cost in Charleston, SC?
Cost depends entirely on what your case calls for a few veneers and whitening looks very different from a full mouth rehab. We give you a clear plan and a clear price after the planning visit, before any treatment starts. CareCredit is accepted and can be used to spread the cost out.
Does a smile makeover hurt?
The procedures involved use local anesthesia and we offer nitrous oxide in every room. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the visits are. Between appointments, you may have a little soreness or sensitivity that we will tell you exactly how to manage. We pace the treatment so your mouth has time to settle in along the way.
How long does a smile makeover take?
Simple cases can wrap up in a few weeks. Full mouth rehab often plays out in phases over several months so the work can be done well, your mouth can adjust, and the result can be evaluated as we go. After the planning visit, you will know your timeline and what each step looks like.

Frequently Asked Questions
I have not been to a dentist in years. Will I be judged?
No. We mean that. Many of our smile makeover patients walk in after years away. There is no lecture and no judgment here — just a careful look, an honest plan, and a team that will treat you like you have been here for years. Your two-hour first visit is built for exactly this. How is this different from getting work done piece by piece?
Doing things piece by piece can leave you with a smile that does not quite fit together — different shades, different shapes, an off-balance bite. A planned makeover treats the whole picture comprehensively, so the result looks intentional and works the way teeth are supposed to work. Will my insurance cover any of it?
Cosmetic portions are usually not covered by insurance, but restorative work like crowns or treatment of decay often is. We will send paperwork to your insurance company as a courtesy and break down what is likely to be reimbursed. Can I see what my new smile will look like first?
Yes! We use a digital smile simulation that gives you a realistic preview of your results in minutes, with no changes made to your teeth. We also offer the option of a trial smile, so you can experience your new look firsthand before moving forward. This process helps ensure you feel completely confident in your decision.
